Going to pick up one of the new iBooks for a portable machine for the family. For me, I'm happy with my G5 for a few more years.

I was going to buy a dual-2.7ghz G5 later this year but I've decide to wait until Macworld in January as that's when Apple seem to announce their major updates. Hopefully we'll see at least a dual-3ghz G5, or better for the same price or cheaper than the current 2.7ghz. I need to get a faster machine soonish for Logic's ever more CPU hungry features as I'm still running G4 Macs, Powerbooks etc. I want to maximize my not inconsiderable investment but I'm in no rush for the new Mactel machines until the inevitable v1 bugs are eliminated, which I guess will be a few years yet.

It's never been truer that there never a good time to buy cutting edge gear as there's always something better on the horizon.

I'm trying to hold out for a G5 Powerbook. But, my 867mhz has been nothing but a nightmare, so I might switch to DP or dare I say..... PC :dknow:

I'm going to get a dual G5, but I still haven't decided between the top three 2, 2.5, 2.7.
The 2GHz is of course the cheapest, but I don't want to be kicking myself three or four months from now that I didn't spend everything on the 2.7, especially if I'm going to start using VSL heavily. I still have plenty of time to decide.

Hoping to get a 2.3 G5 and a 20" screen this month and then move to Pro7.

I'm waiting on an Intel laptop. I really don't have that many apps that are mission critical, nor plugs for that matter. We all know Logic will be ready, and beyond that the only plugs that have such a great meaning for me are u-he plugs, which I'm confident will either be ready or will transition fast. Beyond that, Live is my only other necessity.

I'm really undecided at this point...I want to see how the new technologies ushered in since LP7 translate to the Mac Intels ...things like DAP
I mean I know I will eventually make the move....it's just a matter of how long...I am going to act like the Jazz Saxophonist that I am and Play it by Ear.......
