Hello all. After upgrading from Logic Pro 8 to 9, and I don't recall if this started after updating to version 9.1, I noticed a distinct delay when playing software instruments that I have used for many years, Spectrasonics RMX/Trilogy/Trillian. I also have the delayed reaction when using an external keyboard. I've never had this problem before and I've been using Logic since 5.0 on a PC.
Here is the best I can explain it: I had a midi part from RMX and it wasn't playing back in time with the track. After digging around, I went to settings, audio, general, Plug In Latency. Mine was set to off and I thought ah, ha, they have updated the latency management, great. I changed it to "All" from the pull down and the midi part played in perfect sync with the track.
This is where the problem begins because now, with the Plug In Latency set to "All" or "Software Instruments..." I get a delay while playing a part to go along with the track. I go to play a bass line and I'm hearing the sound with such a delay from when I play the note, I can't even play with the track. Very frustrating.
So, I go back into Settings, Audio, General, Plug In Latency and change it back to "Off" and I can play perfectly with no perceived delay. But then I discover that if I record what I'm playing it won't play back properly and the notes are so far off you can't even quantize to a 1/16 note.
Does anyone know what the deal is? It simply cannot remain like this. So I’m hoping beyond hope that I’m missing something and there is a setting that will fix this.
I of course appreciate any help I can get so thank you in advance.
Don
